SEND at Green Trees Forest Schools
At Green Trees, every child belongs in the forest.
We believe that outdoor learning should be inclusive, empowering, and adaptable — giving every child, regardless of ability or background, the chance to grow in confidence, curiosity, and resilience.
Our programmes are designed to support pupils with SEND and SEMH needs, creating safe, nurturing spaces where they can explore, achieve, and thrive.

Our Approach”We work closely with schools, parents, and carers to understand each child’s individual needs before they join a session. Using a flexible and trauma-informed approach, we adapt our activities, pace, and environment to ensure full participation.
Our sessions focus on:
• Building emotional regulation and confidence
• Strengthening communication and teamwork
• Encouraging sensory engagement and calm through nature
• Developing practical, transferable life skills through play and exploration

Founder Michael Harrison has over five years’ experience working in SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) education, leading outdoor programmes for pupils with autism, ADHD, trauma, and attachment difficulties.
As a Level 3 Forest School Leader and qualified Bushcraft Instructor, Michael combines specialist knowledge of outdoor learning with a trauma-informed, child-led approach developed through his work in alternative education and youth support.
We carry out individual and group risk assessments for every SEND participant.
Our woodland sites include accessible areas and quiet spaces for children who need time to regulate or observe before joining in.
